For those that have known me more recently and since my post-secondary days, they have only ever known me to have short asymmetrical platinum blond hair with the occasional accent of purple, red, black or black-blue extensions and/or undercut (from my hair modelling days, see below). But for those that have known me from elementary and high school, they will remember me with more conservative, very long natural blonde hair that almost reached the waistband of my pants. Needless to say it has been a VERY long time since I sported a natural hair colour and even longer since I had hair that, at it’s longest point, reached my shoulders (or beyond).
Well… I decided a few months ago to dye my hair darker, closer to my natural blonde, with some highlights and lowlights - All of course, in preparation to grow my hair out. But the problem is, that when you have exceptionally short hair and decide to grow it out... It (in my opinion) is torture! I went from a fun, edgy haircut and style to the dreaded transitional “Mom Haircut" *GASP*! So instead of waiting for the awkward hair phase to pass (all while struggling each and everyday not to give in and cut it short again myself whenever I happened to pass by a mirror), I headed over to my favourite salon, Sparks Salons to get a full head of taped-in remy human hair extensions and a *NEW* look! I have to admit - I look nervous in "the before" photos... Because I was! It had been almost ten years since I’d seen myself with long hair and I was anxious to see if I’d like it after years of loving my fun short hair… See the process from beginning to end, below.
Sparks has two locations in the city, King Street West and Liberty Village, my favourite place to get my nails (and now hair) done in the the YYZ! Check out their Instagram for some of their impressive nail art! If you are interested in hair extensions, contact them to set up your free consultation/extension colour match. Be sure to tell them GenerationYYZ® sent you!
